designjournalists

Katja Neumann

Katja Neumann has been working as a freelance journalist since 2002 and specialised early on in design, light, young design and web conception. In 2005, she founded the online magazine *Spoonfork*, which combined design and music and received several awards, including the Lead Award and the Young Creative Ruhr Prize. *Spoonfork* has also been nominated for important design prizes such as the Grimme Online Award and the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany. In 2008, Katja founded the agency *Spoonfork* in Duisburg together with web designer Bashar Farhat, which specialises in the conception and development of innovative web magazines.

As co-founder of Designjournalists, Katja played a key role in shaping the network, even penning the name of the project. Katja Neumann passed away in September 2024 after a serious illness. We miss her very much and will always remember her and her inspiring work and humorous but dry manner.
